Barcelona close in deal to Sign Chelsea’s Defender. As Barcelona aims at strengthening their defense, Chelsea’s centre back Andreas Christensen has become Barcelona’s main target as they are now more confident of signing the striker at the end of the season.
The Danish defender and English club side Chelsea will be out of contract by the end of the season and has since been an eye Mark by many top clubs including Barcelona.
According to reports, Barcelona have improved thier offer to Andreas Christensen in the last twenty four hours, as Xavi side is in dire need of a defender like Andreas to strengthen thier back line.
It is also reported that Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the 25 year old player, immediately his contract expires.
Although not official yet, it seems Andreas has concurred to the terms of the Spanish side and may just be leaving at the end of the season.
Speaking about his contract situation last week, Christensen said: “Things can still be done. Being part of a winning team is all that I want to be as a football player.
“It’s hard because all the talks between the club and my guys, I try to keep it away because I want to focus and it’s not changed for me.
“I go on the pitch every day not really thinking about it. I leave that to the club and my guys, and I can focus on playing football.
“I just focus on winning, really. It’s a difficult situation.”
The Chelsea’s block came into the club from Brondby at the age of fifteen in 2012, and has since been in the club for ten years.
Having more than 150 appearances for the Stamford bridge side, he has also helped them win multiple trophies, including last season’s Champions League.
Unfortunately, the centre-back has only played once in the Premier League since the end of December, majorly due to injury and Covid-19 and slightly as a reasult of his contract stand-off.
If the Catalonia side gets Andreas Christensen to their side, it would bring back confidence to the defense and an increase in options.
