Barcelona women’s team have been crowned champions of the Spanish women league even having six more games to go play.
The team were crowned champions after Sunday’s game against Real Madrid when they thrashed 5 – 0.
The game took only 41 minutes before the goals started pouring in, with Putellas scoring from an assist curled up from Rolfo F.
Shortly after, Purellas was at it again scoring in the 43 minutes after the 23 year old Guijarro laid her a pass.
The first half ended with 2 goals in favour of the Barcelona women, but there was more to do, and this was what the team did in the second half of the game.
In the 60 minutes, the 32 year old Melanie Serrano added to the woes of Real Madrid to make it 3-0.
Five minutes later, Real Madrid had to much to handle and they showed when Peter B, put the ball behind the net, making it 4 -0.
The Barcelona Women team have woman all their league game this season, winning all 24 games this season.
With the league title already secured, the Blaugrana can now look ahead to a Copa de la Reina quarter-final clash with Sociedad.
And they will take on Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
From the look of things and the current form of the team, it won’t come as a surprise if the Barcelona women’s team grab a treble of trophies this season.
Xavi has commended the women’s team and encouraged the men’s team to emulate them.
