After last week’s successful completion of a major signing of Timo Werner, the Blues are going big for another round of transfer talks with a South American league, Santos for its teenager, Kaio Jorge.
Chelsea are hopping an agreement with the Brazilian top-flight club around £26.6 million.
Jorge, 18 is Santos’ most talented forward who is likened after Christiano Ronaldo, Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in the teenager.
Initially, Brazilian media have estimated a £69million release clause on Jorge but later reduced it to less than half of the fee.
When asked about his opinion on the proposal from Chelsea, he said: “I leave these things to my agent. I don’t get involved, he manages them.
“Right now I’m very happy at Santos and I want to keep doing well, growing and improving my football. Every day I learn something new and get stronger.”
Meanwhile, coach Frank Lampard is obviously elated about his club’s current form.
He says: “I’m certainly excited about the squad we’ve got, with the young players and if we can get a few additions for areas I feel we need.
“We didn’t bring in anyone in January, it didn’t work out to be right for us at the time, and last summer we couldn’t bring anyone in, so those windows are gone and we haven’t changed.
“So I am excited about the squad we’ve got, if we can freshen up in the right areas we all know that.”
