England National Team Struggles Again

The England National team failed to produce a good result once more in the UEFA Nations League. The three lions with huge quality and potential could not produce a win against the resilient Hungary team. Having not won any of their opening three games against strong teams of Hungary, Germany and Italy makes them the bottom team in Group A3 of the UEFA Nations League.

The Three lions started off with a strong team which includes the likes of striker and team captain Harry Kane, Arsenal’s player of the season Bukayo Saka, Promising West Ham star Jarrod Bowen, a midfield trio comprising of Borussia Dortmund’s youngster Jude Bellingham, Leeds United defensive midfielder Kalvin Philips and Chelsea’s promising  youngster who was on loan at Crystal Palace for the 2021/2022 season Conor Gallagher. England national Team had a backline of Manchester City’s Right Back and Centre defender pair of Kyle Walker and John Stones with Ex-Chelsea youngster Marc Guehi with Chelsea’s Right back Reece James playing as the Left back and Arsenal Shot stopping Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

The game started off well with the England Team having the advantage of possession and attempts at goal, with West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen missing a big chance in the early minutes of the first half. The Hungary team proved Resilent and played well on the counter, which got them their opener through Freiburg winger Roland Salai in the 16th minute which was assisted by Adam Lang and later went on to grab his second and his team’s second goal in the 70th minute and Martin Adam got himself his first assist of the competition and later on got his second assists in the 80th minute when Zsolt Nagy got the third goal of the game.

The England national team struggled to get in the game even with the introduction of fresh legs of players which includes Mason Mount, Phil Foden, and Harry Maguire. The introduction of the latter substitute was has a result of a second yellow card in the 82nd minute to Manchester city defender John stones. It could only have get worse in the  89th minute when Daniel Gazdag scored the fourth goal making it England’s worst home defeat since 1928.

The game ended 4-nil in favour of Hungary leaving alot of question marks about the future of Gareth Southgate having not won a single game in the UEFA Nations League. Speculation flying around about the future of Gareth Southgate suggests that the now Coach of Brighton and Hove Albion, Graham Potter is to take over. The England Team will be flying to Italy for the next round of games to Face Italy, it isn’t Mathematically impossible yet for the England team to progress from their group, a must win in the next game would give hope for qualification for the next round for England.
