FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar will  play with the introduction of a Semi Automated Offiside Technology. This technology which has been previously used in tournaments like 2021 FIFA Arab Cup. Also in the previous FIFA Club World Cup. The technology will see Officials get notifications of an offside ruling. However, they confirm manually before passing the information to the referee on-field. Also the process of decision of the offiside with be communicated to the fans via improved 3D animation display. This will show home the offiside decision was reached and not just only fans in the stadium but also online viewers and television viewers.

The FIFA President talking about the use of the Technology : “Semi-automated offside technology is an evolution of the VAR systems that is in use across the world. “This technology is the culmination of three years of dedicated research and testing to provide the very best for the teams, players and fans who will be heading to Qatar later this year. “FIFA  committs to harnessing technology to improve the game of football at all levels, and to use semi-automated offside technology at the FIFA World Cup in 2022 is the clearest possible evidence.”

That next game is  by hosts Qatar against Ecuador at the Al Bayt Stadium. England finish Group B with games against the USA on Friday November 25. And versus Wales on Tuesday November 29 following Wales’ progression via the play-offs.
The knock-out stage begins on Saturday December 3.
The final at the Lusail Stadium in Doha a week before Christmas on Sunday December 18.
