August 6 – Sporting goods giant Puma and La Liga have revealed the match ball for the 2020/21 Spanish topflight season, with Accelerate, in traditional white colours, the primary ball and Adrenalina, with a more catchy design, used for ‘El Clásico’ and other marquee matches. 

The new balls were presented under one of Puma’s mottos – ‘The ball is the heart of La Liga’ – and with the aim of evoking and stirring emotions among La  Liga’s global audience. Accelerate, “featuring the colours of the La Liga logo integrated into the design with custom acceleration graphics to showcase the explosive speed of the ball when moving”, will be used in the lion’s share of matches.

In decisive matches, Adrenalina will take centre stage with design patterns “symbolizing the nerves in the body to reflect the heartbeat increasing and the body producing adrenaline in the players on the pitch and the fans in the stands.”

Earlier this month, Real Madrid clinched their 34th Spanish topflight title to conclude the longest iteration of La Liga yet following the coronavirus shutdown.

La Liga has set September 12 as the start date for the 2020/21 league season. The campaign is scheduled to finish on May 23, on cue for the rescheduled European championships.
