Life has indeed started brightly for Nigerian defender Leon Balogun in the Scottish Premier League where he has made it into the Team of the Week after the first round of matches.
Balogun gave a commanding performance in his debut outing; helping Rangers to an away win and also registering a clean sheet.
This display earned the former Brighton and Wigan a deserved selection in the Team of the Week.
“A very impressive start from the summer signing saw him dominate opposing attackers in Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Aberdeen as the two clubs got the Scottish Premiership season underway.” The statement announcing the team of the week read in part.
Balogun is the only Rangers player in the team week as Joe Aribo was overlooked despite also impressing for Steven Gerrard’s side.
The 10 other selected players in the Team of the Week were chosen across seven teams.
Celtic with three players; Odsonne Edouard, Greg Taylor and Jeremie Frimpong dominated the first team of the week in the SPL.
