MLS All-Star Game 2022
The MLS All-Star game is an annual soccer game held by the Major League Soccer featuring selected players from the league against an international club. The event was first played in 1996 at Giants Stadium, with the contest marking the mid-point of the MLS season.
Specifically, the All-Star game is one in which MLS invites a foreign club usually from Liga MX to play against the selected players from both the eastern and western conference. Moreover Some European heavyweight clubs like Manchester United and Bayern Munich have also participated in the game. Mostly it takes place in the middle of the MLS season and it’s also one of the highlights of the year.
This year’s game is slated to take place on the 10th of August 2022 at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The event runs in a span of 3 days kick starting with a concert. However, Khalid will be headlining the concert alongside other artistes on the 9th of August. Followed by the skills challenge before the main match on the 3rd day,
The skill challenge will see both teams compete in what the organizers say is the “ultimate test of skills”. They Include
- Shooting Challenge
- Touch Challenge
- Cross & Volley Challenge
- Passing Challenge
- Crossbar Challenge
Unlike other football competitions, there won’t be additional 30 minutes extra time and both teams will go straight to penalties.
The players are nominated and selected through voting by fans and coaches. However, both sides have announced their squad list and the names present promises a very exciting game.
