The MLS top earners are raking in millions for themselves by signing enormous contracts and clauses with their respective teams.

Let’s trek the dollar-laden path across the 2022 MLS top earners

Lorenzo Insigne – $15 million

It’s no surprise that the franchise sports cover boy tops this list. Lorenzo Insigne is estimated to be earning over $15 million per year making it one of the biggest MLS contracts of all time.

All soccer fans know how good he is and how his addition will undoubtedly improve the Toronto FC squad. He have proved his worth during his time with the Italian side Napoli scoring 122 goals and 95 assists in 434 games. He was also crucial to Italy’s Euro 2020 success.

Carlos Vela –$6.3 million

Los Angeles FC captain Carlos Vela sits toward the apex of MLS salaries in 2022.

Vela, however, has demonstrably proven himself in the MLS, unlike Insigne. He is arguably one of the best scorers in MLS.

Javier Hernandez Chicharito – $6 million

The former Manchester United forward joined LA Galaxy in 2020 and was the highest paid upon his arrival. Although he hasn’t been prolific as he used to be and has been clocking fewer goals compared to his compatriots, he is still one of the MLS top earners.

Gonzalo Higuaín – $5.7 million

The Argentine forward and former Juventus players is Inter Miami’s top earner. Despite having a slow start on his arrival, the 2015 SERIA A top scorer found his feet at full season. He has scored 12 times in 30 appearances.

Alejandro Pozuelo – $4.6 million

Despite a less glamourous career than those above on this list, Alejandro Pozuelo enjoyed relative fortune at Genk in the Belgian Pro League. He has kept up similar form since joining the league to ensure he’s still one of the MLS top earners in 2022. In addition he won the 2020 Landon Donovan MLS MVP. He recently  moved from Toronto Fc to Inter Miami FC following a trade deal between both clubs.
