Erstwhile Super Eagles gaffer, Samson Yebowei Siasia believes Victor Osimhen will hit the ground running in the Serie A next season following his €70 million move to Napoli.
In an exclusive chat with Comsmedia from his base, Siasia showered encomium on Osimhen for his wise choice, adding that he is optimistic the former Lille forward will be a great hit in Italia Series A.
The former U-23 gaffer stressed that Osimhen’s short stint in the French Ligue1 has helped the leggy striker developed his penchant for scoring goals and further boost his confidence in the box.
”Osimhen made the right decision. Good player, hard-working and ready to grow. I know lots of offer came for him but he made right choice by picking Napoli.
“Playing in France has helped him developed into one of the best young strikers in Europe. I believe his experience with Lille will help him succeed in Italy,” he said.
Osimhen’s transfer to Napoli is reportedly worth €70 million, according to RMC Sport, becoming the Partenopei’s most expensive transfer and beating Gonzalo Higuain’s €39 million signing in 2013 from Real Madrid. Though the final fee could rise to €80 million due to add-ons.
After a short stint at Wolfsburg, Osimhen joined Belgian club Charleroi where he participated in a total of 36 official games scoring 20 goals in 2018/19. His performances then earned him a move to Lille in 2018/19, where he scored 18 goals in 38 appearances.
