The English Premier League is the the top tier of English professional football and the most watched league in the world.
It was established on the 20th of February, in 1992 as the ‘FA Premier League’. Prior to the inception of the Premier League, the top level of the English football league system was ‘The Football League’.
Since being formed in 1992, a total of 49 clubs have competed in the Premier League. 20 teams play in The Premier League every year and only 7 teams have won 1 or more Premier League titles. Manchester United have won the Premier League more than anyone else, having finished first 13 times.
