PSG fails to shine without Mbappé, the Parisian club took a trip on to square off against third side Nice OGC on match day 27, at the Allianz Riviera Stadium, as an 88th minute goal from Andy Delort Sank the Paris club

All talks coming into this game was how Ligue 1 leading scorer Kylian Mbbape would have enough rest and be ready to face Real Madrid when the side travelled to the Bernabeu. Having been suspended for this match pundits as well as fans, expected the star-studded team to see out

The side from the south of France needed the win to leapfrog Marseille to second place, with PSG resting players ahead of their mid-week Champions league match against Real Madrid.

PSG’s top scorer Kylian Mbappé was rested for the match and was not even listed on the bench for the Parisian side.

The host came into this encounter boasting the best defensive record having conceded just 10 goals in the league this season. Christopher Galtier’s men had taken points off the league leaders when both sides met in the PARC Des Prince, with the match ending in a goalless draw.

The opening exchange was cagey as PSG failed to register any meaningful effort on goal. Lionel Messi was thwarted by the Nice defenders as he tried a mazy run into the opposition defence.

playing without star striker Kylian Mbappe, it was a poor performance from the PSG side that lacked the spark going forward, even with the presence of seasoned superstars like Lionel Messi and Neymar. In fact, it was Nice who started the game rather well, capitalising on individual errors from the PSG players to make deadly forays into the opposition

neither team was able to break the deadlock in the first half. While PSG tried to fuel their attacking output after the restart, they were unable to do so, mustering a total of just two shots on target. The Nice defence remained resolute throughout the ninety minutes, which ended up being quite rewarding for their attackers.

While PSG were looking for a late winner, Nice capitalised on their defensive frailties to score the opener in the 88th minute, with Andy Delort making no mistake in converting an enticing cross from Calvin Stengs. Nice could have even doubled their lead at the last minute, but the horror challenge from Mauro Icardi was made just outside the penalty area, leading only to a free-kick.

The visitors caught a frustrated figure at full time as thier woes on the road continued having a score just once in the last five away matches.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino said his side controlled the game but failed to take thier chances against the host.

He also warned that their champions league game against Real Madrid would on Wednesday would be a different game entirely.

Phochettino said, ” I think we’re very disappointed we didn’t win. we gad control of the game, but we didn’t score and if course, when the game is open, it can happen in the last minute to concede.

“That’s why I think we’re very disappointed and upset about the result.it was an even sometimes. when you cannot win you cannot lose the game”.

I think they were positive things but some others that we need to improve. of course, it’s going to be a different game against Real Madrid in the champions league and we cannot compare the games.
