Roma have this afternoon confirmed the signing of Carles from Barca

Italian giants AS Roma have this afternoon confirmed the signing of Carles Perez from Barcelona.

21-year-old wide-man Perez had spent his senior career to date solely on the books of the Blaugrana.

After joining the Catalan giants’ famed La Masia academy from city rivals Espanyol in 2012, the Spaniard worked his way through Barca’s youth ranks over the years since.

Perez’s impressive displays as part of the club’s B-team then saw him introduced to Ernesto Valverde’s first-team squad for the first time last season.

And, as the youngster’s star continued its ascent at the Camp Nou, Perez began to see consistent time on the pitch as part of the La Liga champions’ senior side for the first time over the early months of the current campaign.

After starring with a pair of assists on his first start in the colours of the Blaugrana versus Osasuna back in August, the winger, who is generally deployed on the right before cutting inside onto his left, had since managed 9 further league appearances.

Perez also found the net on his Champions League bow, in a 2-1 win over Inter Milan last month.
