Sevilla have signed Nigerian striker Uchenna Kanu for the rest of the season from America club Southeastern Fire.
The 22-year-old Super Falcons goal poacher was named NAIA Women’s Player of the Year for 2019 following a record-breaking year in the United States. where she scored 157 goals in four seasons, including a record 27 hat-tricks for Southeastern Fire to become the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics all-time career goalscorer.
Kanu inspired Nigeria to a maiden Wafu Women’s Cup triumph after final win over hosts Cote d’Ivoire in Abidjan and scored 10 goals to clinch the highest goalscorer award in May last year also starred at the Women’s World Cup in France as the country reached the Round of 16 for the first time in 20 years.​
Kanu becomes the eight Nigeria to ply their trade in the Primera Iberdrola after Barcelona – Asisat Oshoala, CD Tacon – Osinachi Ohale, Madrid CFF – Rita Chikwelu, Chidinma Okeke, Real Betis Feminas Alice Ogebe, Sevilla FC – Toni Payne, and Sporting de Huelva – Peace Efih.
