Timo Werner ‘shocked everyone’ in Germany. Chelsea have completed the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig after a meteoric rise in the Bundesliga.
Werner netted only 13 times in 95 league games for VfB Stuttgart after coming through the club’s ranks and making his senior debut at the age of 17 in 2013.
But a €10million (£9m) switch to Leipzig, who were about to enter their debut campaign in the top flight, in 2016 set him on the path to greatness as he fired in the goals for his new club to earn international recognition.
Werner capped off his meteoric rise by joining Chelsea for £47.5m in June – and Stamford Bridge chiefs are expecting big things from their big buy.
Former Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen defender Roberto Hilbert is a fan of Werner but believes his career will be defined by what he does in the Premier League.
