Wayne Rooney’s Derby County have been relegated to the third tier of English football.
They were handed a 21-point deduction this season due to breaches of profitability and sustainability rules.
Deby County was relegated on Monday evening after their narrow 1:0 lost to QPR.
Wanye Ronney’s side were expecting Reading to drop points so as to see them still in the championship for another match day but Reading came back from a 4:1 deficit to draw 4:4
They were handed a 12 point deduction early this season after entering administration under the Mel Morris ownership on November 16 a futher nine points was deducted after EFL Sanctioned them for account rules breaching.
Wanye Rooney spoke to the press after the confirmation of his sides relegation to the third tier of English football;
“we were picking up the pieces of what wuas left behind, we’ve earned enough points to be in the Division for next season, we’ve played some really good stuff and developed young Local players, so in that sense, the future looks bright”.
Without the deduction Deby County would have been on 52 point and 17th on the table but with the deduction they’re 23rd,on 31 points.They have been relegated with only three games left and a 10 piont gap to 21st placed Reading.
Wanye Rooney who was recently linked to the vacant position as Burnley Coach,but he said he’s excited to rebuild the derby squad.
He’s definitely make a name for himself by sticking with them, “Parker Said.
if you have a chance to manage a club like Derby,you stick with it until something bigger comes along that you can feel you can go in there and do a great job.”
Next season will see Derby County play in the third tier of English football for the first time since the 1985-86 season. Plunge.
